Activities and the region

Stephen Earley, your host welcomes you to the Manoir de Roches. Having visited this beautiful region for many years, my wife and I bought a house in Chablis. It is a delightful small town known as the Golden Gate to Burgundy. Where better place to stay! It has a reputation for fine wines, gastronomy and historic and cultural heritage.

Chablis has a lot to offer with its numerous restaurants, and excellent range of shops offering local delicacies. There are many caves where you can have a degustation – taste the local wines. Sunday morning there is an excellent market which is very popular.

Walking, Cycling and Sightseeing

From Manoir des Roches you can explore some of the best vineyard walks and cycle rides that Chablis has to offer. There is so much to see in this beautiful region. A warm welcome is offered to walkers on the Saint-Jacques de Compostelle en route to Vezelay. Short stay, or long, I am happy to offer recommendations to help you make the most of your visit here.

Clos vineyards

River Serein Chablis
The wildlife and birdlife are abundant. Kingfishers, woodpeckers, nuthatches and red squirrels frequent the garden. In spring the orchard is a picture with its blossom, whilst in May wild cowslips lay a carpet of yellow. There are plenty of quiet corners to relax in.

Manoir des Roches is set in the country  alongside the River Serein yet only minutes from the centre of Chablis, and offers a tranquil and relaxing location for your stay. During  your visit I would be happy to offer some excellent circuits  to the best attractions in the region.
